Commemorative Airforce Big Easy Wing Educational Program Kaydet

Students are instructed in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) aviation sciences and history with the purpose of developing leadership and 21st century job skills.
Our Big Easy Wing (BEW) Kaydet Program instructs youth about the field of aviation, careers, and aspects of flight. In addition, participating youth creates an aeronautical flight chart and utilizes flight simulators to enhance their learning. In-struction utilizes videos, discussion, visits to fire station, and airport tower. The Kaydet program incorporates aspects of the BSA Aviation Badge curriculum. The BEW Kaydet program consists of flexible, non-traditional learning spaces to get students out of the classroom and into hands-on projects that are engaging.
BEW is presently collaborating with Boys Scout of America Troops in New Orleans. Prior to this program, BSA scouts were not able to receive their aviation patch in the NOLA area.
Our hangar is where the instruction takes place. It features various collective items from World War II: (1) Aviation in-struments both American and German, (2) Aviation helmets, (3) WW2 aircraft models, (5) Aviation training films, (6) Aviation historical books,  (5) Two flight simulators and a new X12 flight simulator.
