The Big Easy Wing of the Commemorative Air Force had its first meeting at the Hammond Northshore Regional Airport on Saturday, September 16. Due to inclement weather, a fly-in was not possible. Even so, members had the opportunity to visit the airport facility, check out some planes and look at possible hangers. Colonel Jim Helms, a member of t
he Big Easy Wing, displayed an exact copy of the Batmobile which he restored. These photos were taken by Big Easy Wing member, Jeff Segner.
Please mark your calendar for our next general membership meeting which will be October 14 at 10: a.m. at the Lakefront Airport (KNEW) Terminal Building. The meeting will be held on the second-floor in the conference room.
Next Event–The Wing is planning on participating in the WWII Air, Sea & Land Festival which is scheduled for October 27-29. There will be WWII Museum personnel attending our meeting to discuss our involvement with the event. This will be an amazing opportunity to promote the CAF Big Easy Wing. Thus, the Wing is planning on having a booth to boost publicity and membership. We need volunteers for our booth. Please send an email to [email protected] of your choice of time slot. We’ve only had a few members to sign up so far. We need you HELP!
Also, the Wing may be asked to help the WWII Museum staff to help in other areas.
Note: CAF HQ in Dallas requires members to be in uniform for all events. If you are a colonel in the CAF, please wear your uniform shirt to all events. If you need to get one, please visit commemorativeairforce website and click on the gift shop. To log in, your member # and last name are required.
